Feel free to join us at a rehearsal

  The Sirens of Titan operate a no-audition, open-rehearsal policy. People are free to attend rehearsals as they wish although, be warned, we do charge an eye-watering £2 a rehearsal to all attending in order to cover room hire and various other contingencies.

Rehearsals

A Dinner, A Drama and A Dram with Rabbie Burns

Wednesday 25th January 2012 - Enjoy a Burn’s Supper in the Auditorium at Òran Mór on Burn’s Night, and then let The Siren’s of Titan Choir take you to Poosie Nancy’s Tavern in Mauchline to hear Burn’s masterpiece… The Jolly Beggars – A Cantata or Love and Liberty.

The Sirens of Titan Choir, Conductor Paddy Cunneen, will perform the Jolly Beggars accompanied by pianist Peter Shand and String Quartet in the famous arrangement of the work by Cedric Thorpe Davie, native of Glasgow and Professor of Music at St. Andrew’s University.
This is a rare opportunity to enjoy one of our National Bard’s greatest in a live performance.

Doors open at 7.00pm, dinner served at 8.00pm.

The least predictable carol concert in town...

Once again the Sirens of Titan Choir are presenting their unique blend of newly commissioned carols and readings in the splendid Auditorium at the Oran Mor. With string accompaniment and guest artists Carol Laula and Tom Urie.

Then join the choir in a second half of sing-a-long carols with a few extra Christmas goodies thrown in.

Tickets, £10 including a complimentary glass of wine and mince pies, are available from behind the bar at the Oran Mor or via ticketweb.

Christmas TreeI know, I know. Only October and mentioning Christmas already. Blatant commercialism! Country going to the dogs! Shouldn't be allowed!

I quite agree. 

However, the Sirens of Titan have for a number of years been performing a rather unusual carol concert and this year's event is set for the Oran Mor on the evening of 23rd December. The unusual feature is that each year we commission a number of new carols and readings based on the theme Christmas, Glasgow, Now. And the first of the new carols has just arrived...

   

What's in a name?

kazakWe are often asked about the choir's name. The conversation usually runs along the lines, "That's an unusual name for a choir." The obvious answer to this is, of course, "Well, it's an unusual choir," but people always seem to insist on a fuller explanation.
